A full brain workout
There’s tons of research from around the world which looks at the benefits of music-based learning. Dr. Nina Kraus is a doctor of Audiology at North Western University in the USA. She studies the effects that music has on brain plasticity. Brain plasticity is the brain’s ability to reorganise or rewire itself. Without this ability, the brain would be unable to grow from infancy or rewire itself following injury.

Her ongoing research shows that being involved in music-based learning from a young age impacts brain development and plasticity, particularly in the areas of motor, auditory and executive function.
Dr. Kraus’s work is just one of many, many studies showing the benefits of music education from a young age.
At Wriggle and Rhyme, we use music and singing in a gentle and memorable way, to stimulate learning across many areas of a child’s development.
For example, in terms of speech development, it’s common for parents to tell us that their children’s first words come from the songs we sing in our classes.
Small groups cultivate relationships
Besides the developmental benefits of music-based learning, Wriggle and Rhyme also provides a gentle and happy space to make new friends.
Our groups remain small with a maximum of 8-9 children, depending on the size of the venue. This allows people to get to know each other easily over the term.
There’s also delicious tea and coffee served afterwards for the grown-ups, which is a real winner!
